We all have this one person who we wish we could ask more questions when we still had the chance. This is mine.
Unable to study art, Tiny van Dam started painting on the side, especially after she retired. She continued to paint until her death in 2009.
Her creativity and drive to create rubbed off on me at a young age to the point where I promised her I would study art for the both of us.
Nearly 14 years after that promise, it is about to be fulfilled. The collaboration pieces, where I repaint her concepts into my own style, are marked with the double signature of “LINDA” and “TINY”.

Identity
Tiny’s biggest inspiration was culture, she loved Africa and the woman there. The colors and clothing were some of the biggest pieces incorporated in her art.
Thus I decided to take that concept, and create it using my own style: manipulation with plastics.

Mother Nature
Nature, especially plants and grapes, were not painted much by her, I can only recount seeing two though I don’t know how much work of her is still out there.
Taking his concept, the grapes in the vines is created with stamping paint covered bubble wrap on the canvas, the leaves are stamped cling film.
The piece is reflective and some elements disappear during certain light positions.

Reign
Reign is a reconstruction of her regular posing compositions, while Tiny usually painted tribal and cultural clothing, I decided to make it a bit more modern but still royal.
